Left Margin is Jagged

 

Word (any version)

Problem: Left margin is jagged or uneven.

Most common cause is that the text is centered. This makes the left margin ragged (the distance from the left margin varies).

Solutions

Word 2007 and newer:

Change the style of the paragraph to apaBody

 

Word 2003 or older:

To correct this problem change the style to "Normal"

The format tool bar. The style box is the combo box with the word "Normal" in it. 

Click on the style box.

Change the style to "Normal" or "Normal no indent".

Note: You may need to select all the paragraphs affected and repeat the above steps. You can select more than one paragraph at a time.
